Tips for writing optimized press releases, part 1

An optimized press release is an invaluable promotional tool for a business today. Optimized press releases use targeted keywords (see my recent post for tips on generating keywords) and hyperlinks to increase traffic to your website, get you higher ranking in search engines and get better exposure.

Before you start writing

When you are writing an optimized press release, ask yourself these questions first:

• How does this release work with my company’s current search optimization and search marketing strategies?

• What are the top five keyword/phrases used for my company website and will they work in my press release?

• Are there any other keywords that would work with this press release?

• Are there certain pages on my website that I want to drive traffic to with my press release?

• Can I enhance my press release with rich media content like images, videos, podcasts, etc.?

Answering these important questions will help you get your search engine optimization priorities in order to develop an effective optimized press release.
